Town Hall and Soldiers Memorial, Wallaroo.

After the destruction of the Town Hall by fire in December 1917, the Wallaroo Town Council set about rebuilding. The remaining external walls were retained in part and the main hall was extended, with a larger stage and the addition of an orchestra pit. The work was carried out by H Emmett & Sons of Adelaide at a cost of just over 6,000 pounds, nearly twice the cost of the original building erected in 1902. With the disaster of 1917 in mind firefighting equipment was installed, and the cinema room was made fireproof.

The tower was rebuilt and this time a clock was installed in the front facade. This was donated by Councillor Richard Tonkin. The refurbished building was officially opened in February 1919.

In 1923 a memorial arch was erected in front of the Town Hall commemorating the 50 soldiers from the town who died during World War I. The Wallaroo Cheer-Up Society, Returned Sailors & Soldiers Imperial League of Australia and local residents raised funds for the memorial.
