The wireless pedal radio was invented in Adelaide by Alfred Traeger in 1927. Traeger had been working withReverend John Flynn of the Australian Inland Mission (AIM) to establish radio communication for the Service. In 1929, the first pedal wireless for use by the AIM Aerial Medical Service (later the Royal Flying Doctor Service) was installed at Augustus Downs near Cloncurry, Queensland. This photograph shows two nurses operating a pedal wireless. |
