David Unaipon was born at Raukkan (then Point McLeay Mission) in 1872. In 1909, he developed and patented a modified handpiece for shearing. Unaipon also spent many years lecturing on Aboriginal legends, customs and social conditions, becoming a spokesperson for Aboriginal people and influencing government Indigenous policy. He published his own poetry from the late 1920s. |
