Description :
The first part of the College at Sevenhill was built in 1856, and a boarding school operated until 1886. As the only Catholic boarding school for boys outside of Sydney, it attracted pupils from as far away as Tasmania and Victoria. Among the first pupils were members of the Cudmore family - wealthy pastoralists who had extensive landholdings across South Australia. During the 30 years of its operation 450 students went through the school. The Jesuit community at Sevenhill was the earliest Jesuit community in Australia. Today members of the Jesuit order still reside at Sevenhill.
