Act passed by the South Australian Parliament extending the franchise to women.


The Constitution Amendment Act 1894 which extended the franchise to women, was passed by the South Australian Parliament on 18 December 1894. This legislation permitted women to vote and nominate as candidates for the South Australian Parliament, 'in the same manner as men.' The Act was reserved by the Governor for the signification of Her Majesty's pleasure delaying implementation of the legislation until March 1895.
