Description : |
The interior of a South Australian wool shed where men are working shearing sheep. The shearer removes the wool from the sheep, starting under the belly and then each side. The shorn wool is collected by a roustabout and 'skirted' to remove any stained wool. It is then classed and pressed into bales. Most Australian flocks are shorn once a year. An adult Australian Merino sheep produces an average of four to five kilograms of wool each year. |
