Description : |
Wheat stack at Wallaroo. Wallaroo jetty was erected in 1861 to allow the docking of boats to transport the copper mined on the Yorke Peninsula. Later, as the wool and wheat industries boomed, these products were shipped from the port too and Wallaroo remains an important export port for wheat today. This striking image shows stacked wheat awaiting transport and gives an idea of the bulk of grain which passed through the port of Wallaroo. |
