Description : |
A group of men observing a wounded sea-lion on a beach in the Pearson Isles, south west of Elliston, South Australia. The islands of the west coast of South Australia and Kangaroo Island are favoured haul outs and breeding grounds for seals and sea-lions. Hunted to near extinction during the 19th century, the animals are now increasing in numbers. Whether this particular animal was wounded in a fight with another, or by a person is not known. Wounded animals should be treated carefully as they can become aggressive. Seals and sea-lions are capable of inflicting large wounds. |
