Description :

A Pygmy Possum on Kangaroo Island. The Western Pygmy possum lives in a wide range of habitats from tall forests to scrubby heaths. Its diet consists of pollen, nectar, fruits and a variety of invertebrates. It breeds several times a year and is extremely agile. The Pygmy-possum is tiny, weighing on average only 13g.

The Western Pygmy-possum is threatened by introduced predators and habitat destruction. It is easy prey for foxes and cats, but its high reproductive output has helped it survive. The main threat has come from clearing of large areas of its natural habitat .
