A baby Malleefowl photographed shortly after hatching. The Malleefowl (Leipoa ocellata) is found in chiefly in mallee country throughout southern Australia. Its nest is about three metres in diameter and is a large pyramid of sand and gravel. The Malleefowl has been seriously reduced in numbers by land clearing, foxes and human hunters. |
