Description : |
The River Torrens in flood surrounding the Morphett Street Bridge and the Victoria Bridge, Adelaide. Flooding of the Torrens was common right up until the 1930s. In fact the River did not run to the sea but stopped at coastal dunes creating what was known as the Reedbeds, a large shallow water wetland. From 1900 to 1917 there were flooding events along the Torrens in every year except 1901 and 1902, 1907 and 1914 which was a drought year. |
