Portraits of two men, Ernest Neville and John Adamson (also known as Thomas Adamson), who comitted suicide on 2 September 1879. The related article on page 162 says, "Neville and Adamson were partners, and had besides the fishing business a nursery garden. ... Both men were about thirty years of age, and bachelors, were deeply attached to each other, and in talking would always speak of each other as 'chummy', and had been keeping house together for a number of years. They bore the character of being quiet inoffensive men, and have no relatives in the colony." |
