Description : |
Newspaper report regarding homicide detectives investigating the mystery of a body dragged from the River Torrens. The next day newspaper reports record that car keys found in the pocket of the deceased fitted the car of Adelaide University law lecturer, Dr George Duncan, which had been found on King William Road. The murder of Dr Duncan and the failure of the authorities to gain a conviction created considerable public concern. As a result the Dunstan government passed gay law reform legislation in 1975, making South Australia the first state to legalise homosexual acts. |
