Description :

View of the reservoir at Pekina, South Australia.

The reservoir began to fill with silt, reducing the amount of water available for irrigation. A survey in 1944 showed that only 90 hectares were being irrigated and by 1964 irrigation had ceased. Siltation and drought had so reduced the amount of water that irrigation from the reservoir was no longer feasible.
