The article is a report of the last day of the Royal Visit by Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh and his visit to Port Adelaide. One of his official duties during the regatta that was held on the Port River was the launch of the new lifeboat the Lady Daly. A description of the construction of the boat, and its self-righting properties is given. As well there is detailed descriptions of the street decorations, the singing and a report on the races in the regatta.

Lady Daly was carefully described. Her overall length is 43 feet with a beam of 9 feet;depth of hold is 3 feet 6 inches. The boat is built of huon pine with internal fittings of red pine and elm, diagonal built and with nine air-tight compartments for maximum buoyancy. She is manned by 14 oars and carries as well two standing lugsails and a jib. The self-righting quality of the boat came from its iron keel. Following the launch of the boat which was christened with champagne by Miss Ayers, there was a demonstration of the boat's self-righting ability for Prince Alfred and the assembled crowd. Lady Daly served in the South Australian lifeboat service until 1926, when she was finally replaced by the motor lifeboat Arthur Searcy.
