The company G. P. Harris, Scarfe and Co. was created by the business partnership established in 1866 by George Harris, George Scarfe and Richard Smith. Harris and Scarfe had each formerly had their own ironmongery businesses. The company occupied premises in Grenfell Street from 1877 and Harris Scarfe's still trades from a store in Grenfell Street today.
