A group of boys riding goats about to start a race at Blinman in South Australia's Far North. Mounted bareback and with only the horns to hang on to, the boys are in for a rough ride. Perhaps these are seasoned racing goats, but it is more likely that they are owned by the boys' families. On the day there may also have been events with the goats pulling carts, with young children driving them. Goat racing is a popular alternative to the more expensive pastime of horseracing and almost everyone in the Outback owned a goat. |
