Description : |
Children playing on the seashore of a South Australian beach; a jetty crowded with people promenading appears in the background. This may be a normal weekend excursion or may reflect the crowds associated with some celebration, such as Proclamation Day at Glenelg (the celebration of the State's founding in 1836). The three girls in the foreground have hitched their skirts up well above any potential splashing from the water, while those in the background appear unconcerned about the possibility of getting their clothes wet. To the right of the photograph a small boy stands in the water alongside an adult, who appears to have hitched his trousers up to avoid getting wet. |
