A group of Non-Commissioned Officers of the 2nd South Australian contingent to the South African War in camp, probably at the Old Exhibition Grounds, east of Frome Road. Back row L-R: Cpl. Solly-Flood, L/Cpl. Rowell, Cpl. Butler, L/Cpl. Castine, L/Cpl. Coffey, Cpl. Brock. Seated L-R: Sgt. Fay, Cpl. Morant, Sgt. Langley, Sgt. Major Press, Sgt. Major de Passey, Q.M.Sgt. Francis, Farrier Sgt. Goodall, Farrier Sgt. Carter. Front: Trumpeters Marshall and Wright. Corporal Harry 'Breaker' Morant went on to infamy when he was executed after being found guilty of killing Boer prisoners in his care. |
