Hindley Street, looking west. From a sketch by F.R. Nixon, 1846. This image is by Frederick Robert Nixon (England 1817 - Mauritius 1860) who worked in intaglio etching technique. It features single and double story dwellings and shops. The buildings on the south side of the street have deep verandas extending to the road. |
