Description :

Soldiers of the 20th Reinforcements, 9th Light Horse, Adelaide. Front row, second from right: Claude Leahy.

Leahy, a butcher, was born in Mt. Gambier. He enlisted on 24 June 1915 and embarked aboard RMS Malwa on 27 July 1916. He was killed in action in Palestine on 31 October 1917 and is buried in the Beersheba War Cemetery.
