Description :

Lorna Smith (nee Elliot) of Nepabunna Mission Station, Northern Flinders Ranges, South Australia

According to Adnyamathanha genealogy, Lorna was one of three children born to Kitty and George Elliott.

She married Mick Smith; they had two sons.

The Register of deaths records that she died in Nepabunna on 1 March 1949 at the age of 42, and that her usual residence was at Mt Lyndhurst.

This photograph of Lorna Smith is illustrative of the many insightful and considered portraits Mountford made of the Aboriginal people he met at Nepabunna during his visits.
