Riverton accountant Harold Du Rieu was the publisher of the County Light Times. The newspaper largely reflects the concerns of the local farming community. Together with articles about 'Wether hoggets' and the Rev. J.A. Allen's 'Think it over' column, are advertisements for tractors and separators, as well as detailed descriptions of local weddings and debutante balls. From 1950 syndicated photographs of political figures, film stars and sporting heroes appear, with fewer news items and an increased preoccupation with 'Macarthyism' and the 'fiasco' of socialism.
