Selected text from Internment in South Australia: history of Loveday internment group, Barmera, 1940-1946, originally published Adelaide, Advertiser Printing Office, 1946. These extracts briefly describe the history of internment in South Australia during World War 2. The Loveday Internment Camp near Barmera in the Riverland was established during World War II. It was used to confine predominantly German, Italian and Japanese internees. The first internees were received in June 1941, and the last were released in February 1946. |
