Description :

People enjoy a cruise along the River Murray aboard the PS Marion. Includes stopping for wood to feed the boilers of the boat, scenes of trees along the river bank and negotiating one of the many locks en route.

The PS Marion was launched in February 1897 and during her life has gone from a working steamer to a passenger boat.

At the peak of the paddle-steamer era there were between 200 and 300 boats operating on the Murray River system and the river was vibrant with the noise of boat whistles and thrashing paddle-wheels.

Coverage year : 1940
