Description :

The State Library holds more than 200 segments of film taken by Percival Moody. Born at Kent Town in 1890, Moody was a philanthropist, company director and keen motor hobbyist, founding the Harley-Davidson Motor Cycle Club and the Outboard Club of South Australia.

Moody filmed historic South Australian events, occasions and attractions between 1929-1950, and raised funds for charity through public film screenings.

In this clip Moody shows highlights of a Christmas party put on by Christian organisation Toc H at Victoria Park Racecourse in 1931.

Held on December 5, Toc H Newsletter The Magpie described the event as "the biggest and most successful of its kind held in Adelaide". Over 8,000 people attended and were treated to displays of acrobatics on horseback, gymnastics, marching and folk dancing.
