Description :

Letters written by Lance Lewis, Lewis family members, and friends, between March 1915 and March 1917, describing Lance Lewis's service in Egypt and Gallipoli, and his convalescence in England.


Major Lewis, a member of the 3rd Light Horse Regiment, was wounded in action at the Battle of Rafa on the 9 January 1917. His wounds were in the head and neck and he was dangerously ill for two months before returning to Australia. View his AIF service record [National Archives of Australia].
