A male Blue wren (Malurus cyaneus) feeding its young. Also known as the Superb-Fairy wren, Superb warbler, Blue cap and Cocktail this wren is distributed through eastern Australia from Brisbane to Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. The female is a brown colour and the young male will resemble the female for some months before developing the characteristic blue colour of the male of the species. It feeds on insects. |
