Description : |
Plumb-Bob Clark of the 'Sollys' at Telowie Gorge. The end of season football team trip has become somewhat of a tradition over the years. In 1925 players from the West Broken Hill Football Club toured South Australia and Victoria. When they visited Port Pirie they met with players from the Solomontown Football Club. In this photograph Bob Clark appears to be participating in a long kicking competition. West Broken Hill Football Club, known as the 'Robins', and who wear red and black, were formed in 1900 and have won 24 premierships in the Broken Hill Football League. This League is affiliated with the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Solomontown Football Club, which formed in 1893, are known as the 'Cats' and wear blue and white. They have won four premierships in the Spencer Gulf League which was established in 1961. Previously they competed in the Port Pirie Football League with great success including six straight premierships from 1931 to 1936. |
