Description : |
"The Proprietor of the above Hotel assures those who should favour him with their patronage that no pains whatever will be spared to ensure them every comfort and attention." "F. Briggs" is hand written on the back of the card. The hotel was owned by Frederick Briggs between September 1880 and March 1882. The Royal Hotel was a two-storey stone construction and was built on the corner of Gibson and Mildred (now El Alamein) Streets. It opened in April 1878. This site was across the road from the Customs House and the new government jetty for landing railway material. |
