Description : |
Charles Mountford taking photographs from the blister of a catalina seaplane whilst flying over Arnhem Land, during the American- Australian Scientific Expedition to Arnhem Land Whilst en route to Groote Eylandt, the RAAF catalina crew handed Mountford a camera and requested that he take as many aerial photographs as he could of the landscape. Mountford commented in his journal for 5th April 1948 that there was no question of focus, or adjusting shutter speed and, despite the long-focus lens, he was surprised by the detail he was able to capture. |
