Description :

The tram waiting for passengers at Glenelg on Monday, 4 September 1939. Behind the tram is the Pier Hotel, which stood on the foreshore where the Stamford Grand Hotel is now situated.

The tram service on the Adelaide-Glenelg line began in 1929 and was the only line to survive the closing of most Adelaide trams services in 1958. The line runs between Victoria Square in the centre of Adelaide to Glenelg's Moseley Square and is 10.8 kilometres long. In 2007 the line was extended from Victoria Square along King William Street, turning into North Terrace and ending at the University of South Australia City West Campus.
