Description : |
From the Advertiser, 30 August 1938. In this, his last transmission, Kinnear reported that the party would spend its final day packing their effects and the specimens they had gathered and would then board the train at Abminga late on the evening of 30 August. This report also details some of the recordings made by Mountford with the local Aborigial men. Recordings that, Mountford regarded as "the finest recordings of Aboriginal folk songs yet obtained in Central Australia." (This ethnographic work did not form part of the sizable donation of material Mountford made to the State Library between 1959-1970, and any information on its whereabouts would be gratefully received). Grenfell Price had also been working on a premlinary report of findings that he hoped to submit shortly after their return. |
