Description : |
Dedication of the War Memorial at Tickera The white marble monument of a soldier is typical of many memorials to the soldiers of World War I erected around South Australia in the aftermath of the war. Approval for the establishment of a soldiers' memorial was granted in October 1919. Eight acres of parkland was set aside and the Tickera Soldiers' memorial Fund was established in March 1920. The memorial was unveiled by the Town Clerk of Wallaroo 1 October 1921. A month later a field gun was acquired from the War Trophy Committee and added to the site. |
