Portrait of Archibald Grenfell Price, leader of a South Australian Government expedition sent to the Simpson Desert to search for possible remains of explorer Ludwig Leichhardt. The expedition was mounted to examine relics found near Mount Dare Station by station owner Edwin Lowe. At the time of the expedition Grenfell Price was the President of the Royal Geographical Society of South Australia. He served in this role for two years only, but was a member of the council for more than thirty. |
