Description :

Hand drawn by CP Mountford during a 1938 South Australian Government expedition sent to the Simpson Desert to search for possible remains of explorer Ludwig Leichhardt.

The map shows prominent landmarks including mountains and water holes, as well as their main camp and area of excavation.

The site was named 'Ritchie's Ridge' in honour of the Chief Secretaty of South Australia at that time, Sir George Ritchie.
