Description :

The unusual conditions under which the Board of Enquiry into the ill-treatment of Aboriginal people near Ayers Rock heard evidence in Central Australia. The conditions, including roadside hearings, campfire discussions and rough travel are described by the Rev. J H Sexton, a member of the Board and the secretary of the South Australian Aborigines Friends' Association. The Board sought to enquire into Constable William McKinnon's treatment of the Aboriginal men in his custody following their arrest on a charge of murdering their tribesman, Kai-Umen, in Central Australia.
