Formal education for the children in the Corny Point district was begun in 1888 and until 1957, when a new school was opened in Corny Point operated from a number of different locations.

From 1888 to 1905 the school was on section 142; from January to August 1911 the school was at section 146; from 1911 to 1957 the school was on section 126 and was known as the 'Dairy'. A separate school on section 96, later moving to section 62 was the Carribie School. This operated from 1930 to 1935 and catered for families living further south who found the distance to the 'Dairy' too great for their children to travel twice daily.

Carribie School was built by a small by hard-working committee headed by Mr K B Filmer. Committee members each contributed 10 pounds towards building costs with further money being raised by various fund raising activities such as dances. While the school was being built classes were conducted at 'Rockleys' on section 96, until the new building on section 62, beside the Corny Point-Stenhouse bay Road, was opened 25 September 1930. This school only operated for five years before it was closed, with the children transferring back to Corny Point. Both the Carribie and Corny Point schools were small, and when Carrabie opened there were only eight children on the roll at Corny Point. The schools would occasionally combine for concerts.

For a while after the school closure, the building was used as a private home.
