In 1944, shortly after the poems of Ern Malley were published in the Adelaide literary magazine Angry Penguins, rumours began circulating that Ern Malley did not exist and a hoax was being perpetrated. This newspaper article announces that the poems of Ern Malley were indeed a hoax, written by James McAuley and Harold Stewart. |
