Description : |
An Aboriginal man, Jimmy Tjapari, standing on top of a hill holding spears. Charles Mountford took this photograph on the 1940 University of Adelaide Expedition to Central Australia. He relied heavily on the knowledge of men such as Jimmy Tjapari to guide him safely through the countryside and help him explore important places and legends. Here Mountford shows Tjapari surveying the land surrounding the site of the Ernabella Mission. |
