Description :

I have a transcript of my Great Grandfathers, a William Carter , diary and what I know from that is that he and his wife Emma and six children left Plymouth on the Golden Sea on 17th December 1875. They arrived Port Adelaide on 1st April 1876

his diary reads,

'3/4 - Had telegram from Revd Goodwin - came to the ship to see us - went to the City of Adelaide - was entertained at his home nearby.

Apr 5/6 - on board the Royal Sheppard? had a rough passage to Wallaroo - all very

Sick on board

7 - Landed at Wallaroo - Mr Clark and Mr Rose met us at the port.

8 - Felt very tired - will take some time to recruit our health '

9 - Preached at Moonta Mission Chapel - fine place - large.'

This is the last entry in the diary and I have no information about where the family went after this date until they surfaced in Western Australia living with their youngest daughter (my Grandmother) and her husband.
