Description :

Eyre travelled with an Aboriginal man from Moorunde to assist him in translating to the communities further upriver. He established friendly relations with these, inviting them to come to Moorunde to collect rations. From Lake Bonney he travelled with a man from the local group to the Rufus River and Lake Victoria and again established friendly relations, overcoming the ill-feeling that had arisen following the overlanding of stock from New South Wales. Eyre also reported on the mallee country east and south of the river, and advised that it was unsuitable as an alternative stock route because of the lack of water.
