Description : |
As a youth of 17 or so I moved with my mother, father and brothers to SA, specifically Elizabeth. There I played Rugby Union and Howell Witt was our coach, having been himself a useful half-back. This diminutive man would arrive at our training ground in full Anglican regalia, pull on a pair of football socks and boots, tuck his cassock into his shorts and proceed to give us furious instruction in the fine arts of the game they play in heaven. At that time, also playing Rugby in Adelaide (amongst other sports) were Greg and Ian Chappell. |
