Description : |
The results of a soil survey of the Cadell Irrigation Area and of adjoining unirrigated country in New Era are detailed. Comparisons are made between the Irrigation settlement and the neighbouring unirrigated country. It was concluded that the water logging and salt accumulation at Cadell "...owes its origin to the rising water table, resulting in the upward movement of saline material in the soils of the valley bottom". The pamphlet features a salt distribution map, descriptions of soil types, soil types in relation to productivity and irrigation, and a salt survey including areas affected, the origin of salt at Cadell and salt and its relationship to the water table. |
