Description : |
The South Australian Unitarian congregation is the oldest and the largest in Australia. Well-known sculptor and artist John Dowie is a long-time member of the church. Some years ago he painted a mural representing the history of the Unitarian faith including local figures Catherine Helen Spence and Emily Clark. Prominent Adelaide families including the Simpsons, Cromptons and Grays were also members. The painting hangs above the altar in the current church building at Osmond Terrace, Norwood. |
