Description : |
From 1900 composers began to identify more with areas of local scenic interest such as the River Murray which inspired titles such as Stella Harslett's Moonlight on the Murray published in 1901, its companion piece The Murray at dawn published in 1921, and Sunset on the Murray by Cyril Ross. The River Murray inspired the composition of emotionally appealing music scores in the first decades of the twentieth century. Moonlight on the Murray was published in Adelaide c1901. Its companion piece The Murray at dawn was published twenty years later. George Cawthorne established Cawthorne Music House which sold sheet music, musical instruments and in later years, sound recording equipment, in Adelaide in 1870. |
