Description :

Murray Bridge looking west from across the river, with an early post and rail fence bordering the road approach, and a man on horseback opposite the signal box.

The growing town of Murray Bridge sits on the western bank of the river, taking its name from the bridge. Built as a road bridge in 1879 after first being proposed in 1864, by 1886 the bridge was also carrying the railway line to the Victorian border.
