Construction of the new railway bridge over the River Murray. 1925. Published in the Chronicle, 17th October 1925 The first bridge at Murray Bridge was opened in 1879 after being called for as early as 1864. By 1886 it was also carrying the railway line to the Victorian border. By the early 20th century as many as 15 freight trains a day were using the bridge with road traffic sometimes delayed for several hours. A second dedicated rail bridge was called for an opened in November 1925. |
