Description : |
Old Government stables, Goolwa - built to house horses used by the Goolwa Tramways This substantial masonry building with brick quoins was built in 1862 replacing an earlier structure. It accomodated the horse teams for the railways and coincides with the period when riverboat and railway traffic on the line was increasing. From 1885 traction on the railway became steam and the stables became vacant. The building is now occupied by the Goolwa sub-branch of the Returned Services League (RSL). |
