Description : |
Newspaper article outlining the RSL's attempts to ensure that the Commonwealth government establish a scheme for settling returned soldiers on the land. The Returned Services League (RSL) lobbied the South Australian government strongly to ensure that people who had served their country had prospects to make a living upon their return, and were compensated for their years of service. During World War II the RSL made sure to keep pressuring the government to provide land for Soldier Settlement and to make sure such repatriation was more organised than after the First World War. This piece from The Advertiser illustrates the RSL's views and actions on the matter. |
